This small freestone cool water stream begins it’s northerly flow, to Onondaga Lake, in the Town of Onondaga. Much of the creeks path is in residential and industrial areas making access fairly simple. The upper stretch of the stream has a good gradient that produces decent plunge pools, and holding cover for trout. The lower stretch meanders slowly near Onondaga County Parks Rosamond Gifford Zoo, and through the west side of the City of Syracuse. Onondaga County Parks Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery annually stocks over 200 trout into this creek. For the few faithful individuals that fish this stream the chance of catching a large trout from this urban trout stream is what keeps them coming back.
